JELLO WORMS

We are only a month into fall, and I already see more pictures of gorgeous orange pumpkins and stunning fall foliage than I can count. Not to mention all the chunky sweaters and boots we are all digging out of our closets right about now. In acknowledgment that shorter and colder days are heading our way, and I still can't seem to get used to the idea that summer, pool, and sandals are done for this year, I have been baking a little something with e every week to get myself into this thing called fall mood.

SPIDER COOKIES

If you follow me on Instagram, you have already heard this story, and so I will apologize if I repeat myself. One day here recently, e and I found a caterpillar in our yard. Actually, we found two, but the other one deceased in a very unfortunate event of being squished by my shoe. With my foot in it. Attached to all of my body-weight. I promise I didn't mean to, the poor thing just happened to be in my way. To save the other caterpillar, we decided to move him to a safer spot on the butterfly bush in front of e's window.

BIRTHDAY CAKE

It's September and you may or may not know what this means. September means fall is just around the corner {in most states anyways} and we shall begin our fall baking. It also happens to be j's birth month, and this year we will be celebrating his first birthday.

PUMPKIN PUREE

If you have been around me lately, you have heard my excitement about preparing our first round of pumpkin puree. Followed by roasting pumpkin seeds!

Just today I read a great quote saying "Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go". I don't know who said it originally, but hearing autumn described this way gives it a new meaning to me. I have also heard it being called the spring of fall. For someone who usually hangs on to summer for dear life, I now have found a new way of looking at fall. How precious this time of year is.

BROWNIES FROM SCRATCH

E and I have a sweet spot for chocolate, especially in cookies and brownies. It's no secret that we love to share a cookie or two first thing in the morning.

After we used up all the boxed brownie mixes - as convenient as they are I'm glad to be rid of them - I riffed off my latest obsession of online recipes. And boy am I glad I did because these babies are a hundred times better than their boxed counterparts.
